40 Over 40: Juggling and Reconciling

I grew up hearing Shoulders back, chin up, and smile. How many women share this happy highlight reel of their lives while juggling and reconciling the hardships of life? Although this piece is bright and colorful in appearance, it addresses the serious underlying issues women juggle and reconcile on a daily basis. Each symbolic carefully selected hieroglyph has significant meaning and relates to topics including family, motherhood, health, finances, sexuality, breast and ovarian cancer, discrimination, displeasure in social policy and politics, immigration, addiction, depression, loss, and more.

The Language of Hope and Courage at the Children's Hospital at OU Medicine

The Language of Hope and Courage is a collaborative and interactive hieroglyphic installation project that will empower critically ill children as they experience the power of creative expression as part of the healing process. It will culminate in a creative installation that will exhibit in the in 2020, and hopefully with other gallery exhibits to follow. It will weave together the stories about the unique identities of these precious children, their families and the medical teams. The symbolic identities and creative representations will be merged into a life-sized visual story installation about the amazing and indomitable inherent spirit of these children battling illness and disease.

A Tale of Two Sisters Installation in Clermont-Ferrand, France

Inherent Language of Life Installation

This installation focuses on a series of glyphs and symbolic identifiers that create a language representing individuals within our communities, in a concept that challenges the current volatile issues of fear, hatred, and intolerance that are rampant throughout the world. A unifying factor about this body of work is that the personal symbols, or Identity glyphs, within this installation, were created by the very people it is about - people within our community. This is significant because it challenges the notion of disparity by bringing together the identity of individuals within their communities, and integrates them into an accepting and cohesive collective in the form of art.

More Than Gaelic: A Printmaker's Guide to Finding her Heritage

This installation chronicles my 2015 artist-in-residency in Ireland. Inspired by ancient the megalithic art, ideology, and Gaelic heritage, which is enmeshed in contemporary global culture, the carved and printed glyphs mimic megalithic carvings and translate into words and phrases, telling a literary story of my journey. It was originally exhibited with 65+ glyphs printed on 45 pages, bound into fifteen 7.5 foot high panels, and spanned 75 feet. The Wedding Story

This is the love story about a special young couple. The original story consisted of 7.5 x 7.5 in numbered art pieces made of cut and layered hand-laid (many with tweezers) tiny vinyl components. They were given to the guests at a very special wedding.
